On 20th March, our team went down to JSL Manufacturing Pte Ltd at 37 Kallang Place. We were given a tour by the Operations Manager, which was extremely insightful to the world of engineering and manufacturing. We were able to see and know many of the behind-the-scenes processes such as the welding, bar/QR encoding machines. They are known as boutique factory as they a smaller version of major manufacturing companies in other countries. However, even though they are small, they are able to churn out products and parts in a short time and since they are located in Singapore, these products, like they are usually done so, do not have to be imported from China. Due to their proximity, it would increase the efficiency and decrease the time needed for customers to get their products.
